So, we see plenty of isekais here on SH, but we don't see the reverse scenario explored nearly as much. And whenever we do, those getting reverse-isekaied are almost always secondary characters as opposed to being the MC, with their central role/s in the story being to get romantically and/or sexually involved with the MC. As such, I'm thinking of writing a story around the core premise of a 17yo adventurer, born and raised in an isekai world (with his OG world based predominantly upon KonoSuba, in that its history and affairs have been heavily influenced by the deeds of individuals from our own world who got isekaied there), who finds himself deposited in a random place on Earth.

There (here), he'll have to get by, and make his way in the world. Without any assigned 'Heavenly Quest/Mission' for him to carry out in his new world though, he has no special magic gifts and/or items to help him on his way either, and no magic/mana, nor any RPG-style EXP-based 'skills', 'levels', or 'special abilities' to call upon (other than the basic 'universal translator' brain function he automatically received- which also works with reading and writing), since none of them work in the different mechanics of our world. With these things in mind, which of these career choices do you think would be-
A) the most likely/realistic short-term;
B) the most lucrative/profitable long-term; and
C) the most unusual/original for my reverse-isekaied MC to pursue?

Well, the most profitable short-term would be translator. He doesn't need to learn languages and their nuances if it's translated in his mind right away. Have a lucky encounter with a buxom, tomboyish futa that works for a tourism company and offers him a job with how clean his language skills are. Maybe he overhears her talking over the phone is three different languages and cursing in all three, then the mc comments 'sheesh, that's a potty mouth' or smth. She'd be interested since none are the local language.

The most lucrative/profitable lonig-term would be chef/cook. I assume he was a properly functioning teenager, thus knows how to cook before he gets isekaid. This advantage of different culinary knowledge could be turned into profit in street stalls while he works for the tourism company. Say, he meets a muscly futa that runs a stall and she gives him some food as he looks famished, then the mc criticizes the food and the muscly futa challenges him to a cook-off, then he loses but the owner is impressed by his outlandish skills and gives him a job.

The most unusual/original would be instagrammer. Because I've never seen that before for iseaki people.

He will either be homeless or dead.
Well obviously, he'll initially be homeless- he's been reverse-isekaied from another world, after all. Or dead, in the event that he got dropped into the middle of the ocean, or a big desert, or the Arctic or Antarctic Tundras- but that'd make for an extremely succinct story where none of this stuff would factor in.

You wanted the most likely\realistic option. I provided one. You do understand that his culture is too different, and he won't be able to adapt by himself, right? He will as well need all the necessary papers on him. Who will provide it? Lastly, he is 17, and he has no additional cheats. This means he won't be able to study all too well and absorb all the necessary info at the appropriate speed. So a question about what he will choose as his career is answered by itself.

However, if you add someone who will pick him up and tutor him, you might as well add what exactly he did as an adventurer. For example, if he was a battle monk or something similar, he might as well pick the MMA route. If he was a skilled swordsman, he might choose a professional fencer career, etc.

Honestly, isekai’d into the middle of the ocean, fight for survival, then miraculously wash up on an abandoned island and have to work his way back to civilization just to discover how advanced they are sounds pretty interesting. It could be the first arc. Some castaway shit in another world.

Make professional castaway his first profession then when he somehow finds his way back to civilization he starts a business for saving castaway people like him from abandoned islands.

Set it in the future Earth where climate has drastically changed to the the point where voyages by sea, many end in shipwreck due to ever increasing violent hurricanes and tsunamis. Though travel by sea is like this, infrastructure has advanced to the point where humans can cope with such disasters.

As for the protagonists original world or at least where he lived in his world, you could make it so weather was ten times worse than the weather on this future Earth. His one advantage would be that he’s used it now and the weather feels like kiddy shit in comparison.

Personally, I’d scratch the whole language translator idea. Just make it so the future Earth has adopted a single main language that is very easy to learn as countries were forced to put down their differences and form a united stand to survive the drastic changes in climate.

I think a chef/farmer build is the way to go.
I mean, isekai characters do that with Japanese food stuff and mayonnaise all the time. I think it would be interesting for a person of another world to do that with their original culture.

As random trivia, a returner from an isekai gets a job as youtuber in the manga "isekai ojisan". So maybe he could go that way, too.

Chef seems like the best to me because he would have some unique ideas to introduce.

Indeed you did provide it, and I acknowledged that scenario.

The culture he's coming from is fairly different, but not nearly as much as it should be (like I said, this is effectively a reverse-KonoSuba scenario, with his world having already been historically influenced by other people who historically got isekaied the other way, from our own world to his). And of course, he will need all the necessary papers on him for certain jobs- hence the list predominantly focusing on cash-to-hand jobs where he wouldn't necessarily need it (incl. criminal professions), and ones where others could conceivably provide it (e.g, a talent scout/agent).
As for what he did as an adventurer- mostly just back-up, scouting and utility for the more senior and experienced higher-ranked party members (which did include ones skilled in armed and unarmed melee and range combat though, and with whom he trained for a couple of years).

Something else I just thought about though, but which I didn't add to the poll- careers relating to animals. Since if you think about it, if isekaied people from our world could understand and talk to non-humans with it, couldn't it feasibly unlock non-human language in our world too? And how many real-life creatures are just as smart, or smarter than, your commonly portrayed orcs or goblins? Whales and dolphins, certainly. Chimps? Pigs? Crows? Maybe even dogs- who knows?
CPA definitely
What's that?

Go for, assassin/soldier/mercenary/Mma/gangstar. You will have a great amount of content to write for.
And if you know a sport-geek and can deliver information in such a way that it won't be boring, then go for pro sport like boxing, fencing, archery etc.
For art, try costume designer (not real fashion designer.). Then you can put him/her in showbiz, but not in an actual cliché troupe like actor/actress. Showbiz goes well with romance.
If you want an actor them go for ancient drama actor. Or if you are using a disable MC, try Painting.

For my personal favourite: would be metaphysics. Who can kill ghost or monster that live between human. Or who can do fortune telling. It goes well with moneyhungry mc.

You know? In xianxia, the fastest way to make money is murder?

In the case of some transmigrators, they would choose to borrow money from loan sharks and then straight up murder them, "don't need to care about your debtor when they are dead."

Or make drugs more addictive than heroin and get a bunch of smackheads to do your bidding.

For your case however:

A. Realistically, an IDless, certless 17yo is at best working part time and illegally, probably at the mercy of an extorting boss as well when he/ she can threaten him with exposing him to the cops and not paying him.

B. Run a business. Seriously, sportsmen have prime, white collars are always stuck in-between the rich and poor. Running a SUCCESSFUL business will make the most money in the long run. Sell a product that no one can offer/ offer cheaply.

C. Tiktoker, seriously the internet is making idiots famous and rich. I white collar jealous.

It would make quite a story if there was a reverse-isekaied character who got invited by some mysterious dude who was looking for potential people to gamble at a popular casino and see how they would rise to power.

mc donalds, because I presume the mc doesn't have any skills to function in modern society.

like in the first rambo movie. you can be a badass war vet and drive tanks, at peace you can't get a job as a taxi driver.

then get him addicted to drugs to cope, then go to prison for a lengthy story arc there
