Not every chapter contributes to the story. Sometimes you might wish to know how it ends without wading through fifty chapters of untagged smut... Or you are invested in the lives of the three initial main characters, when the author decides Steve#5's stereotypical inner thoughts need a hundred...

I often skip in multi-perspective novels. There are some MCs I can't be bothered to care about. Otherwise, porn and weird slice of life fillers, skip and skip! ✂

Second day without any mind numbing agents. Ate canned beans for breakfast, cleaned my desk, wrote and published a chapter. Now it's time to do some mindless drone work to earn my wages.

With my current novel, I post as I write only because I am not terribly interested in success. It's a project to keep me away from mind-numbing drugs. I think this site is for people who enjoy their writing. Most ambitious people focus their efforts elsewhere.

Easy fix mate: chapters are not mandatory. Plenty of older books are split in "parts" but not in "chapters". 10k per part seems fair.
