Hello other authors! I've been posting a few stories pretty inconsistently over the past few months, but now that my school semester has ended I intend on taking writing much more seriously. The number one piece of advice I've received for growing my following is posting my work on other sites as well as Scribblehub, but there are so many different sites with different kinds of stories and content that I have no idea where to start.

I write mostly adult stories with a fair amount of sexual content, but a lot of sites seem to have pretty rigid rules regarding these, so I'm unsure of how to proceed. There's also some spooky shit I've been hearing about essentially giving up the rights to your story after posting it on certain sites and I certainly don't want that to happen. Any advice would be appreciated.

Don't go to WebNovel. As far as I heard from many people on ScrubbleHub Forum, I think there are two types of contract but its pretty bad contract deals for the author. And at least one of their contract limits you posting to other sites.

As for adult stories...maybe try Inkitt? Idk. Theres lot romance there from what I presume (i could be wrong) but maybe your adult stories might fit in there too. Granted, idk what your story is exactly like so can't really tell where is the best. Anyhow, just be wary of Inkitts Author contract deals...but if you're not looking to get contract with them and just write on their place for free, then maybe it's something to check out.

Good luck on your storywriting.

If you want more people reading your stories you can post them on Webnovel and Royal Road, but here are the things that I can tell you about them:

Webnovel doesn't have the Latest Updates or the Latest Series function, so it may take some time before someone reads your works. The views on this site are multiplied by the time a reader spends in each chapter, so it is not exact. Contracts in Webnovel are not mandatory, you can ignore them.

Royal Road has the Latest Updates, so your stories will get some exposure. Critics are stricter on this site, there is no tolerance for grammatical errors and no one will try to help you fix them. So only go there if you are confident in your writing skills.

This is based on my experience, so it may be wrong :s_smile:.

Yeah inkitt is easy. I posted a story there MONTHS ago. Never update and still get people following and adding it to their libraries. I dunno if there just isnt many stories there or what but any decent story can get a good following. I fucking hate their writing too tho. Whether it's on mobile or computer, its fucked. I dont even wanna publish there anymore cuz of how hard it is to do.

I feel bad for the people who keep waiting for updates tho

Yeah, I don't like their markdown. It's pretty limited.

Hi, does Inkitt have the same policy as in those of Scribble Hub such as age of consent, plotless porn and other rules that are usually not found in the three sites that I am already using?

Well my dude the age thing is the only thing you have to perhaps worry about. Everything else sshould be fine. Its a smut romance site. So anything like Fifty Shades is fine.

You're either branching out to hell with no readers or luckily attract a bunch. Besides, being a long-time member or author on a certain site gives more exposure than just starting out to copy your novel into another site with your author's name. I tell you, you start slow, and the second you know it, your novel looks like an abandoned puppy. Well, there's always the shameless ad, but no—that isn't even sufficient. Readers may come by and pick your novel up, some may give you an unfair contract deals, but either way, it won't work out unless you know your way on a certain site and every one knows you.

It's fine to post adult stories on Scribblehub. What you can't post is pure smut. What is a pure smut?

Well, the accepted adult story is something like this:
Jennifer is a dumbass broad, and that's saying it nicely. If you put two baguettes in front of her, she would clash it together in order to produce sparks. What sets her apart from other dumbass broads however, is that she is drop dead gorgeous. For some reason, the gods gave her 100 in looks and 1 in intellect. This is the story of her trying to grow her intelligence while being taken advantage of by men, old men, young men, short men, tall men, weird eyed men, women, weird women, big tittied women, airplane strips, and the octopus.

What's not accepted is something like this:
Sex. Sex. Sex. Sex. Sex. Oh and more sex. What's the point? Sex of course! Fuck if I know what the plot is. More sex, more! Let's have sex with the cactus next!

If stories are fanfiction, then fanfiction.net is obviously a good choice. If not, then the parent site (or was it sister site?) is fictionpress. Haven't used either myself, but I read often enough on the former, and the latter was recommended by someone I know.

AO3 accepts original works as well as fanfiction and is basically a free-for-all as far as content goes, but you won't be getting much of a following there tbh. If your writing ever gets too much for scribblehub, you could post the more extreme chapters here and link to it or something.

WordPress is more of a personal site, so it's unlikely you'll get more readers, but you could consider doing it eventually if you just want to put your stuff out in more places.

RoyalRoad is fine with sex scenes, as long as it's not practically smut. They're a bit more stringent than scribblehub as far as how much of the content can be smut, but I'm not sure if it's set in stone.

That's about all I know. None of the stuff above involves contracts or anything, so you're fine to go. Just double-check any rules before posting.
That said, simply posting on more sites is not really something you need to do. Seen plenty of people stick to one and do fine.
If you decide you must absolutely expand, I do recommend RoyalRoad the most. While personally, I don't like the site (as a reader, not as an author) it's got a bigger community than here, and most authors I know get more readers there than here if they're posting on both.

Sister site. Same. Haven't tried it yet.

Yeah, wordpress is more for blogging. Ik someone who write stories/poems on wordpress but not that many view their stuff, so got them to join sh recently. Hoping it works out for them on ScrubbleHub here. :3

Shit, so the story I had planned won't fit on here then. Off to Literotica it is then.

Pfft dont listen to her smut of any kind has never been a problem here except pedo shit. No one checks chapter contents anyway. What you really have to look out for are explicit covers. You can have a big tiddy anime girl with her nipples showing through her bro, but a less lewd pic of a real life girl and you cant use it.

So just be aware of that.

I tried branching out to Wattpad just to see how my story is perceived but somehow I didn't get even a single view on my story. And at this point I don't know why it's like that, one thing for sure, Wattpad algorithms don't bless me as much as ScribbleHub does.

You have to use a book cover with macho abs. That's an attention grabber.

Yeah. It takes time. People notice you if you comment on popular stories on wattpad. It helps get in a way and people will check you out. I noticed that I racked up more views once I had commented on a couple popular stories. But it takes a really long time, esp since I'm not an active reader on wattpad stories so I don't comment on a lot.

I wonder if Japanese isekai world tropes will work well in what seems to be a platform (Inkitt) littered with western fantasy-romance tropes...

Sadly I'm too lazy to actually read and comment on Wattpad.
