I think he means doubts that you can probably properly tell the story
Bruh.I'm just gonna quote Ira Glass again, cause he says it better than I do.
“Nobody tells this to people who are beginners, I wish someone told me. All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know its normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work. Put yourself on a deadline so that every week you will finish one story. It is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions. And I took longer to figure out how to do this than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s gonna take awhile. It’s normal to take awhile. You’ve just gotta fight your way through.”

I do quite a bit actually. I’ll keep doing each of these things one after the other until I find what’s wrong and figure how I can fix it: First, I read it in my head, then I read it out loud, then I switch writing program from Word to RR writing site via copy paste, then to SH, then to Google Doc, then to switching it back to Word via going back and forth and typing a copy by hand, fixing as I go. I’ll also switch to various IRL locations and switch out genres of music. If none of those work, then I trash it because I can’t realize the potential and there is something deeper wrong with it.hello people, when you're having problems with the story and also have doubts if you can unfold it and/or it doesn't have potential, what do you usually do?
I disagree. I have found inspiration in many areas, from music to the outside world to history and others’ writing. It depends on the author as to how loud and clear your muse is.If you wait for inspiration to come, it will never come.
If you dont know where your story is going, figure it out. Plot. Plan. Prepare. Write.
The areas that I have the most doubts is when I dont know what Im building up to. As writers, if we arent working towards a goal then of course its going to seem pointless or bland. But as soon as we have that goal in mind, how we get there will become much more interesting.
My principle is : when in doubt, then it's time to change.
