Dag revealed where the tenth boy was. It was the flame that was granted to the nine boys and their People.
The flame burned brightly in the village's altar.
Despite their pleas to spare the tenth boy, Dag turned a deaf ear.
.
"You can't bring one whose time has been Taken back to a world that don't need them. Such is the Rule of Retak and the worst taboo to commit."
.
Then there was a Chief. He was greedy and afraid of being Taken.
He told the boys.
"There's a way to bring your brother back.
Take the fire, your bow, and knives to the Dark Mountain.
The Bone-Faced Dog hide his sacred treasure in his lair.
Kill the beast that guard the Life Stone.
Shiny and pure white, yet eternal life.
Bring it to me, then your brother will live once more."
All but one was swayed by the Chief's words. But the boys did not hesitate and brought their torches, their bows and knives to the Dark Mountain.
