i dont think that the argument is that smut wont increase your views. the point was that smut isnt the most popular tag in scrible hub. so the conclusion was that this isnt smut hub... but does it matter if u have a good work and u put smut on it, it's popularity will rise... just like any type of click bait in youtube

as a smut author, i'll say yes, smut chapters gain more views. but what gets even more, specifically, is well placed smut. that is, smut that is well suited to the story, but just "i'm at a road block, so let me include a smut scene here."

I don't think my smuts are well-placed. I currently have 2 smut chapters and both of them are so-called "alternate bad endings" to and arc.

it's up to you on how they're placed. my current run has 3 smut scenes. the first is the intro, using characters introduced in another series that my readers already know, conceiving the MC. the second is one of those same characters remembering a happier time shortly after escaping captivity. and the 3rd isn't yet uploaded, so i don't really wanna spoil it for my readers, should they happen across this post.

my point is they make sense, but some would argue that simply being smut means they're not well placed, because they exist. on the flip side, others would say that smut is always well placed, because we can't always control when an urge hits, and in fiction, may as well go for it.

The argument is about smut novels VS non-smut novels. Not about specific chapters.

Also, nobody sane denies that smut is popular here. It's just not the most popular genre nor the only way to get popular.

The problem with the smuthub people is that they portray the image of this being a site for a smut... Not a site for novels that happens to have smut as one of its popular genres (and it is not the most popular genre).

I'd say that smut gets more short term views, but doesn't do much long term unless there's something else going for the story.

Also, I'm pretty sure y'all have more views at those chapters cause you tagged them as 18+. I didn't, in my story a chapter with a sex scene is just another regular chapter, and it has no more views than other chapters around it.
