What can a new Author expect from ScribbleHub?

Hi, Tim here.

I've seen a lot from SH from the one day I've been here, I can say its the most user/author friendly platform I've been on. Your new novel is showcased on the front page instead of being drowned underneath the veteran novels? Sign me up.
I'm a pessimist though, this is all very good, SH has many features that help readers find their way around and even interact with their favourite authors, but I know it can't be all good, can it? Please let me know what your experience as a SH author has been like.

You can expect nothing in terms of big leap in reader engagement unless you're doing LitRPG Isekai.

Also we're very helpful in the forums. Need help with some grammar/vocab? We got veterans here to help. Need someone to help proofread? Check out the Discord. Need a dick growing formula? Someone here might have it. Anything you want, someone here has it (probably, no guarantees).

Hope you enjoy your stay ranger

As a similarly new author to SH I've noticed the same things you have; a friendly community, polite forum goers, and an active Discord.

I will say that, from my experience, your readers are by and large friendlier and more accepting, but also quieter. You'll receive less feedback and comments, but when you do it will on average be nicer and less toxic.

On other writing sites you may have several backseat writers who want to control where your story goes, but at least you're getting that comment or that review... here, it's less so.

Don't get me wrong there are still plenty of active commenters, but they are fewer in number than say WN or RR.

Also this site is more accustomed to smut, harems, yaoi, yuri, and other adult themed writing, so you'll receive less flack if you say write Yaoi or BL.

I don't write smut or yaoi myself, but if I did I would post it here without much issue... yet I wouldn't even bother posting it to say RR, since the reader-base and site itself are less inclined toward those genres.

The biggest thing I've noticed is if you post frequently, you'll get readers. This site probably has the widest array of acceptable content I've seen in comparison to a lot of the biggest competitors, so you'll always have some sort of an audience for your work.

You can expect many people here to give your story a chance to be read and feel the rise in number stat. Which can be motivating or demoralizing depending on how you look at it. I like it because it shows how much attention my newly made novel has been seen even if them skim over them, vindicating the work I put in them. :blobtaco:

My experience is that people have some weird fetishes. Can you believe some dude even asked a guy to make him some sexy xenomorph drawings?

....wait that was me.

Hello there!

I can assure you it's great here. Both forums and the site. Very welcoming and kind community, also helpful a lot. There's a much lower rate of people who shittalk your story or rate it very low just because of their whimsical attitude. When people interact with the story or author, it usually is quite civilized and fun.

Some threads you might want to scroll through:

Much more accepting, many more fetishes than we're proud of (also probably why we're forced to be accepting).

Also if you're not into yanderes, please give me your social security number so I can give you a nice present to change your mind :s_smile:

I agree that it is a good community, probably because it is quite fresh (this site isn't even two years old, after all).
As long as you aren't the type of author who needs lots of validatioon in form of comments and reviews, you should be fine here.

You can get ban from wattpad? How?
Well, I entered a *few* contests and got noticed, so that was probably part of the problem. It's one thing to have a few kinky niche stories with less than 10k views floating around, but if you're trying to change the world through your writing and actively promoting it, they see you as a danger to their platform.

. . . and it's the same story I'm posting here if you're curious.

I've only been here for a few weeks but I've noticed that the community in this platform is actually, by far, the greatest. People here are less toxic and they're also quite friendly. If you ask something in the forums, there's a high chance that you will receive a lot of feedback from the forum goers here.

I came from one of the most toxic gaming community so, in my book, the community in this platform is definitely great.

Well, if you would hear "CYKA BLYAT!", " YOU F***** RETARD!", etc, etc. everyday whenever you so much as made a pretty stupid move, I'm sure you'll also think that the community here is great.

Wattpad already fell from grace so I guess you got your sweet revenge?
I stopped checking out the books there a few years back. I started to like fanfics at the time and the fanfics there are just outright bad.

So you won these or are these just the contests you entered?

Does that mean SH isn't as suited for authors of normal genres?
