I am two nipples who doesn't get to do either right now. Today, my son put a pillow over my face and went right back to sucking on my nipples.
However, before I gave birth, I was a bit of both. I wrote my drafts in paper notebooks and kept a side notebook full of ideas that I wanted to include, but things didn't always go to plan, and I often came up with better ideas once I got to that point in my story.

Both part 1: I plan out just enough to make sure the story has an end goal to reach, but not aggressively planned out to the point where I won't allow things to change or stop new ideas from coming in.
Both part 2: The best authors are the best for a reason, if my gut instinct won't cut it, then I'll look to see how they did it.
