Promise them an OP protagonist but that he is always defeated, saved by luck or another character comes out at the last second to save him.

Promises them an isekai adventure in a long dark fantasy world but the protagonist wishes to return home and gets it in chapter two and from then on it becomes a slice of life with comedy.

Make every romantic interest the protagonist may have end up with another man. Even better if it's last second for a character who came out of his ass at the last minute.

The real most improper technique is to write nuggets of truth that clash against the readers' MKULTRA19 far-left brainwashing, using actual science (the research and the process, not the "science" religion that never uses good article when it uses any at all).
This will give the readers brain aneurysms or make them explode with indignation and anger despite them not truly knowing why (that's how brainwashing works). This can potentially transform the reader into an active criminal instead of a simple abuser and ruin their life. Justice. Served.
