I originally came here to read novels, then I tried my hand at writing things I would like to read myself, hoping to gather a small group sharing my interest maybe. Didn't work that well I guess

Ah well, don't give up. Nothing you can write can ever be worse than plot of star trek

It's great when you could usurp the writers here because they don't have much experience, but once you're on the top, the only way to go is down... so I bother myself with just staying low and mediocre.

Not arrogant but sometimes annoyed that extremely blatant mediocre stories have more popularity than others, I mean chinese novel level of mediocrity but seems that is no longer the case thankfully
I certainly would never be so arrogant to be concerned about the comparison of stories that aren't my own.

I am not sure whether you can call this arrogance or not...

I once read a lot of JP stories, and then got really bored of it. Many of them were pretty much the same thing. Guy dies, goes to isekai, finds himself in a jungle, rescues some pretty knight girl from monsters/bandits, goes to town, rescues a beastkin slave girl and so on... or guy dies, reincarnates as a noble, goes to magic high school and so on.

I thought that I could write a lot better than that if I put my heart into it. So... I had this amazing idea of an original story so I thought, 'Hey, why don't I post it and then rescue the same type of people who are suffering from genericness like me?' So I posted it on RR and SH.

Then I got two 0.5's in RR within the first hour. Poof. And I barely had any views in SH as well.

Well, that was a humbling experience for me. But I must admit that I have learned to quite enjoy being a niche writer with a small but consistent amount of readers. Less headache and more freedom-of-words for me, I guess.

It was pretty arrogant if you're going to use the word "rescue". Other than that, there's not really anything wrong with thinking you have an amazing idea.

My only act of arrogance was thinking that I could one day finish my stories. That I will write methodically and reach 50 000 words or the like. A the end of the year I only wrote 12 chapters. I fond that it tiring to write

I feel like im the only person that doesn't cringe at my own work. Maybe I should?
Generally speaking, as you improve as a writer, you tend to look at your earlier works and notice their issues more easily.

I definitely feel like there are some real problems on the first stories I wrote for Online Roleplays, for example.

For my first novel... I can clearly see that it's amateurish and it suffers from me not being as aware as I thought I was about what I wanted to write. Had I written ahead a bit (as opposed to publishing chapters as soon as I was done writing and proofreading them), I'm sure the final work would have been more polished.

Though cringing? Not really, I like my previous stories, even if they have their flaws~

When I came here? Not at all. However, I started my writing career on Fanfiction.net, whereas I was so arrogant that I used to unironically compliment myself randomly (OMFG I'm so original and cool), much like this in the middle of my own chapters.
Keep in mind though, I was 12 at the time.
As for ScribbleHub, when I came here, I was legitimately devastated as a person, since my 'Yellow Book', a collection of smut that I'd written over severals years which included paid commissions and the like, was suddenly and without warning, taken down and deleted by an angry admin on Royalroadl, despite me having a screenshot to prove that my story was approved years prior by another admin.
This meant that my source of teenage income was destroyed in a single day and I was pretty much unwilling to build myself up as a porn writer again.
This in turn resulted in me writing something out of the height of my depression, that being my 'Lord Of Horrors', a cringe fest that was thankfully never finished, which you can find here on ScribbleHub as I ran away to this site after that exile from Royalroadl.

..but seriously, don't read it. Apart from like, the psycho twincest smut chapter, the story isn't worth anyone's time.
What is good about writing smut?, i can't get it why people love to write this kind of thing.
