There have been a lot of threads on how to create 'relatable' or 'alive' characters.
But we really haven't done the opposite yet.
So, I was going through some books, and one of them was from my childhood, and I was marvelled!
A villian whose only trait is that he wears purple clothes.
A character whose only trait is that he speaks broken English.
A hero whose only trait is that he is always scared and gives in to peer pressure.
A princess whose only trait is that she will marry the guy who defeats the villian.
And I was like, "Damn, I can't do that! Like, all my characters have this useless thing called 'personality' and waste many lines stating their background and preferences. Plus they have these garbage things called family, that I can't seem to get rid at all!
Turns out I was wrong, a true villian is one who kidnaps children because he is evil and laughs menacingly between the sentences.
I can't do that, my power level is too low!
So, any tips on how to create a complete 1D character?
