Metal Slug Series
-> it's one of the most simple fun-to-play 2D arcade games I've seen. Just shoot the gun, throw grenades, collect weapon power up, ride the tanks, fight the boss, enjoy the music.

It's simple, just look at the visuals, audio, the enemies character, and the backgrounds, no need to undertand complicated mechanic or read Sophisticated words.

You may stumble upon secrets or hidden places, but it's not that much important, it's simply for replayability. Ofc there's some background story behind everything, but that's on the game case and the wiki for those who cares.

Bought a steam deck yesterday, and now I'm in the mood for emulating some oldies. I've got everything set up, I'm only looking for some goodies to play. Any suggestions? Here is what platform I am able to emulate:

  • SNES
  • Gameboy
  • Sega Master System
  • Sega Genesis
  • Nintendo 64
  • GameCube
  • Dreamcast
  • PSP
  • PSX
  • PS2
  • DS/3DS
  • Switch
Here are the games I'm already written up to play, in no particular order (when I have time):
  • Chrono Trigger
  • Super Mario World
  • Pokemon Yellow
  • Valkyria Chronicles 2
  • Mortal Kombat 3
  • Mario Kart 8
  • Persona 5
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • Zelda: Ocarina of Time
  • Sonic 2
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2
Here are some series I am NOT interested in:

  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Metroid
  • Mega Men
  • Tomb Raider
  • James Bond
  • Animal Crossing

Any titles suggested would be appreciated; no need for any links or whatnot; I can source them myself~ :blob_hide:

@MrPopocap SoC and ICO I had for ps3, classics. Now that you mentioned Budokai, I will get it asap. Totally forgot about it and also the Shippuuden games from the PS2 era.

@ACertainPassingUser Metal Slug I only heard about of. It is time to try it~

@Poleg I still have all of those CDs :blobrofl: When I got Cossacks first I was reading that thick manual all the time, damn I loved that game.

speaking of evo: search for eden, i found its predecessor. it had more story than the snes ver, that actually went more after the point where the snes ver ended.

man for a 1990 game i couldn't believe it still look so good.

Castlevania, just saying.

Richter: Die monster. You don't belong in this world!
Dracula: It was not by my hand that I am once again given flesh. I was called here by humans who wish to pay me tribute.
Richter: Tribute!?! You steal men's souls and make them your slaves!
Dracula: Perhaps the same could be said of all religions...
Richter: Your words are as empty as your soul! Mankind ill needs a savior such as you!

Dracula: What is a man?
(throws his wine glass to the floor) *Prang* A miserable little pile of secrets. But enough talk... Have at you!

After that:
1. Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne (Steam Version is best)
2. Wario Land 2 (3 also if you like 2) - Gameboy Color
3. Zelda Oracles - Both games. - Gameboy Color
4. Zelda Link's awakening (I haven't played Link to the Past but I've heard a lot of good things about that one too)
5. Jak and Daxter (2 and 3 also if you enjoy the first one, 2 is the best in my opinion) - PS2/PS3
6. Kirby's Dreamland 2 (Gameboy)

Those are the ones I enjoyed and I tried to go off what was on your list.
