What is the most disturbing thing you have read/watched/heard?

The most important requirement is it must be fictional.
I have already grown bored of the factual stuffs out there so you need not take them into account.

A webfiction called, I think, Darkfyre. Sounds pretty edgy and it definitely could have been. There are specters formed by human spite (basically living conflagrations that practically no one can see), and the only way to kill them are these very, very few people spread throughout the world who can create their own fire out of hate as a weapon, and see these conflagrations.
Made me absolutely sick to my stomach to read. The level of internalized homophobia, and the toxic twists and turns of the story, made me so freakin' nauseaous. The main character is gay, and in order to make him a hateful weapon, the adult taking care of him (who killed the boy's parents in order to gain custody of the child) groomed him into being prejudiced and hateful to the world, as well as increase self-loathing. The MC finds someone to love, which makes his hate decrease. He can barely fight off one of the weakest specters now. At the same time, the adult tells the main character that he killed MC's parents, that way the MC could go back to hating more and kill the specters. The main character kills the adult and runs to the solace of his boyfriend. The specters are unchecked now. They burn the city, thousands are dying.
The main character can't do anything. He doesn't hate himself like he used to. Something is holding him back.
He realizes what is holding him back.
And he melts his boyfriend alive so he can hate himself again and kill the specters.

Mystery Flesh Pit National Park. Its an AR project about a superorganism that fell asleep/was trapped underground and was found by miners. In short, a park was made out of a giant eldrich horror that sleeps underground and can tear the planet in half with its awakening. Right in his flesh.

I heard that this novel was so disturbing that 4 or 5 Translators decided to drop it. And they weren't even kidding cuz the MC's first revenge was bloody, and his female companion's revenge is disturbing and disgusting, to the point that I stopped reading it for a few days lol.

I was one of those translators. It was not fun.

As to the topic question... hmm. Hard to judge? I feel like it has as much if not more to who I am at the time I'm experiencing it as what I am experiencing itself. Like, that one story with the girl with the ribbon around her neck haunted me for years, quite possibly the longest I've ever been that bothered by a fictional thing, but... that was when I was a really young kid? The Enigma of Amigara Fault bothered me for a while....

End of the world stuff near the end of the series doesn't even come close to how disturbing the stuff in the middle of the series was.

Sounds like something from Edogawa Rampo's earlier works. Dude was a Japanese author in the 70s who wrote some EXTREMELY disturbing pseudo-erotic stuff right along those lines, and then suddenly switched to writing kids books in the 80s. Not sure what part of that is the more disturbing of the two, and there are a lot of people who actually love his kids' books in Japan.
