I sit in a corner with the crossbow fully armed and loaded. Something is going on in the alley way that I have been hiding in.
Assertion: Muffled Screaming is going on.
Conclusion: Murder, assault or sex.
Assertion: The smell of blood is in the air.
Conclusion: Unchanged.
Slowly moving my body around to get in a better position when the screaming cuts off as if silenced by a knife. The smell of blood grows far stronger as if a larger wound has been opened. Something slowly drops to the ground in the alley, it sounds like some kind of body. I peek around the corner and see 1 humanoid object lying on the floor and a second winged figure with large wings attached to their back standing over them. A small dark object in their hands. Slowly I lean back into the corner to drop down to the floor to get a better look.
Assertion: Body on the floor. Screaming ended
Conclusion: Dead? Mental exhaustion.
I slowly move along the floor careful to keep my movements hidden from the winged man who is now bent over the body trying to pick it up. The arms dead and unresponsive to the careful movements of the winged being. Slowly closing on the winged man I can see that his feathers are being affected by some kind of wind weather that is because of the shaping of his body or because his target is still alive. The winged man slowly begins moving his wings in extremely small movements and so I stop movement. He begins to take flight whilst carrying the body even in such a small alley. After he disappears I slowly make my way over to the spot where the body was. On the floor is a very small pool of blood. The stench of blood had been for an amount leaked of a far greater amount touching the fresh air.
Someone else will have to look into this encounter in the night. There was that quest in the guild guess I'll go and do that. I slowly walk off to the guild from my alley hiding spot
"This is quite the problematic report, miss Aieo... It seems like there are harpies attacking the city's denizens... I'll report this to the appropriate authorities, thanks for sending note of it.

"I'd usually wish for the gods to guide you, but I believe that would not be something that would aid you in any way, would it?

"In that case, may your Emperor watch over steps, and ensure your hard work gives fruit to a better future."

Quest Report

With half of the night left to go, Liana headed to the quest board again and saw one that worked for her while she searched for somewhere to sleep in the day time:

Leaving the quest board, Liana began strolling around the city - specifically choosing to go near the areas that looked to have very dark alleys. Seeing some children running around in those alleys, Liana decided not to scare them with her presence and so continued onward.

After walking around for an hour, she saw: a few slimy things that had an amorphous body shape and decided to not get close to them due to her instincts saying they were dangerous; some middle-aged men in cloaks standing behind some younger men in cloaks who were bent over against the walls and panting(?), she wasn't too sure what that was about so ignored the group that had stopped to stare at her and continued walking; and a man seemingly having a conversation with some fruit...she noted it seeming like a conversation because the man was holding two apples and producing words out of light magic that seemed to be answering questions but didn't get to ask the man since he ran away when he noticed her presence (@Generic.Archdemon).

Not really knowing if any of that counted as something suspicious, or noteworthy, Liana walked down a dark alley...
before being grabbed from behind and hit on the head and stabbed her in the back- forcing her to drop the empty wine bottle she'd been carrying all of this time. However, the hit and stab didn't knock her unconscious, it instead awoke her vampire state whereby she instinctively slashed her sharp nails at the assailant's throat, causing them to release her and push their hands against their wound. Liana's own stab wound visibly healing due to her having drank Jasper's demon blood earlier that evening.

"Sh*t!" The half-elf woman shouted as they tried to use a healing potion on themselves.

The problem, though, was that the scent of blood in the air made Liana's vampire state go into blood lust and she pounced with a surge of strength and scratched at the half-elf's hands and face forcing the potion to fall to the ground before being opened.

"Kyaaaaaaaa!" Her assailant screamed as her face got torn apart by Liana's sharp nails.

With the scent of blood getting even stronger, Liana's fangs instinctively grew longer and, after easily prying the weakened half-elf's hands away from her neck, she bit down hard and sucked. The half-elf struggled, desperately trying to shove Liana off with her legs but eventually weakened to the point she could barely lift her hand. Soon after, her heart stopped beating and she died. Regaining her lucid vampire self, Liana saw that she had killed her assailant and felt nothing. She then picked up the empty wine bottle and placed the opening next to the ripped up throat that was raised in the air by Liana's other hand.

Watching the remaining blood flowing into the wine bottle, Liana's cold, detached face showed no malice, hatred, or sadness. She then closed up the wine bottle that was 2/3's full and looked around the area for the knife the half-elf had used to stab her. Eventually finding it, she slashed at the half-elf's body all over to mask the scratch and bite marks she'd made, cleaned herself with the healing potion, and then
...looked upon the mutilated corpse of a half-elf woman.

"..."

Liana made a mental note of the location while staring at the knife inserted deep into the woman's throat. "How cruel...to want to stab someone in the dark of night..." She muttered to herself before leaving the area with her wine bottle and returning to the guild to write up her report.
Not having found anywhere to sleep while on the quest, Liana pondered over whether to go back to the kitchen and make more rations...

[OOC: Empty wine bottle changed to - Wine bottle 2/3's filled with half-elf blood]

UNAPPRAISED

I say my goodbye's to Dr.Fern and I walk through the gate. Me and Gobo walk out the otherside of the gate and the first thing that we notice are the stares from the other travelers at us. Well they must not have much goblin's holding a potted plant I guess. I walked to the nearest looking guard and write in the air, asking him where the Adventure's Guild is located. While he was telling me where the Adventure's Guild was at, I still noticed these stares at us both. Well at least we know where the Guild is located now.

Well we both finally got to the Adventure's Guild. I see the big board of request and hear the loud, but still coherent sounds of people talking. Just what the I first imagined, when thinking about this place. What I didn't expect was that the loud noises were towards us, but more specifically Gobo. "Goblin! Goblin! Goblin!" the place shouted. I hurriedly casted light and tried to explain our situation on how Gobo wouldn't hurt anyone. However I couldn't write as fast, as how fast the other adventures were approaching us.

Luckily at the last moment, a huge came in front of us blocking the other adventurers. "An orc?". It seems the orc's name is Pierre, as I infer from the adventurers talking with him. I finally get the crows attention with my Light words and explain me and Gobo's situation and status. The guild was still uneasy, but Pierre's good word finally broke though and let us go with ease. On the case that if Gobo ever hurt anyone in town unprovoked I and Gobo would be banished to the swampland, something I would definitely not like. Well as the crowd dissipates, me and Gobo thank Pierre and tell him if he needs anything potion related he can rely on me. As I say to my goodbyes to Pierre, he tells me if I need a place to stay while in Scribel City I can stay next door in the Guild Tavern for about 10g/day.

Me and Gobo get in line to the guild counter. Finally we get to the counter and have me register as an adventurer and Gobo as my Pet. I get my guild card and a map of Scribel Region. The Guild receptionist helps me learn about the places of interest in Scribel City and outside. I thank the receptionist and me and Gobo walk outsides, towards the Guild tavern. Pierre sets us up with room and board, just in time for dinner. Me and Gobo finally get to our room, Gobo full with a nice meal and me full of good fresh spring water. Gobo set's me up near the window stand so I can look out at the new city. As Gobo falls asleep, I think about my first day in our new place, situation, and world.

+Guild Card + Scribel Map
-10 gold (Room+Board)

X BigGreen&Gobo

TLDR: Me and Gobo finally arrived in Scribel. We had an incident at the Guild, but luckily a person came and helped us. We settled down to the tavern next door, awaiting our day tomorrow
"I can't say I don't understand their wariness upon seeing a goblin walk through the streets, but they really should have watched for signs of hostility before trying to attack you... I'm glad mister Pierre was able to solve the problem before anything worse happened.

"Let us pray this is the last issue you find within the city, mister Green.

"May the gods protect you from those that wish you harm."

Looking around the quest board, Adsall saw an easy quest. Tour guide.
Tour guide for someone from the Halfwing federation. Guess I should do my part for my fellow Halflings.

Adsall met with the Sica at the village gate.

"So you're my escort aye~", she said excitedly. "Show me what makes Scribel great!"

"Hey no need to be rude. How about introductions first."

"I'm Sica, a half dragon."

"It says you're a leprechaun."

"Tee hee!", Sica said while smiling with her fist against her head and her tongue out.

"Ugh...I'm Adsall, a blacksmith and a half dwarf."

"Oh so you're like me! That's good to hear!", Sica yelled excitedly.

Suddenly, there was a loud growling... it was Adsall's stomach. He had forgotten to eat breakfast again.

"Eh? Is that growling I hear? Are you hungrrrryyy?", She teased.

Adsall averted his gaze from Sica and started blushing.

"Ha Ha Ha- GROWL"

Sica's amusement was quickly stopped by the sound of her stomach growling, actually it was more like her stomach was yelling.

"Should we get some food?"

"Yes please.", She softly responded with her flushed face.

They didn't talk much (due to what is dubbed the "growling incident") until they both had their fill of food.

Afterwards Adsall took her to see Spire Reef. She really enjoyed the seafood there. He then took her to see the Farms, where she happily ate vegetables. Finally he took her to see the Guild's famous flower gardens. Where she happily partook in some tea drinking and biscuit eating.

This girls a glutton isn't she.

A couple of shady people did try to attack us, but she quickly dealt with them.

"I'm supposed to protect that?" Adsall muttered.

"Hey why are you taking their possessions?" Adsall yelled. "Oi don't strip them!"

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Eventually it became sunset. A content Sica and exhausted Adsall approached the gate.

"Hey today was really fun Adsall. Before I go... here!"

She suddenly held Adsall's hand.

A green light began to engulf his hand which slowly travelled up his arm and eventually covered his body, before dissipating. After which she let go of his hand.

"What was that?"

"A blessing of luck!"

"Well uh thanks."

"No problem, It was a fun date."

"Huh?"

"Well it's time for me to go. We should do this again some time!", she said as she left.

"What do you mean date? What do you mean next time!", Adsall frustratedly yelled until the sudden realisation hit him.

He was technically on a date.

Left speechless and flustured, Adsall slinked back to the tavern and drank some ale.

OOC: I don't know what I was thinking when I was writing her personality, I don't even think I portrayed it well. :sweating_profusely: Sorry Evaluator.
"We weren't aware of her combat capabilities, but I'm glad no harm came to her... And at the very least, she seemed to have fun, so this was not a bad start.

"However, I'll have to reduce your reward. What were you thinking when you took her all the way to Spire Reef? That is town is located in a pirate country, do you have any idea of what would happen in case she was kidnapped? I'm honestly surprised you two came out of it unharmed, The Goddess must have surely protected you this time. Don't bet on this happening all the time though, for miracles don't tend to happen too often.

"May the gods teach you some common sense."

'We nearly lost the gate to the snakes last night.

Or to be more accurate, early this morning. Sanguine seemed pretty happy at the tavern I left him...her? It?...so I passed the innkeeper's daughter some gold for taking care of him, as usual. Then, instead of resting at an inn, I decided to head to the walls, drag out a small bench and sleep under the open sky, like what the dwarves had been doing this afternoon. As it turned out, I'm glad I decided to do so.

Because those f***ers decided to launch a surprise attack at two in the morning. They weren't even supposed to be up that late----or early, whatever. The dwarven lookout I was chatting with nearly lost his head had I not pushed him aside, saving him from getting a new head piercing; then he swept my legs out from under, sending me to the floor.

It hurt a bit, but I prefer that to being impaled with a spike. Then we rang the bells loudly to get the rest up.

To be honest, I'm pretty damned surprised we got through that assault with only a few dozen deaths. Fighting in the pitch black was a real tactical nightmare, especially since we couldn't tell the size of the horde. Yeah, it turned out to be true that dwarves have darkvision, while I could still see quite okay in the night, but we were too busy ducking behind the walls to do any proper suppression. At some point, several flares went flying into the grounds below, providing brief illumination. That's when we spotted that one annoying f***er. You know, the thing with frills. And as to be expected, the smaller f***er was hiding behind it, doing whatever it usually did. I'm guessing that's some sort of commander. And since it was there, the horde naturally got a lot more annoying than usual.

The city dispatched several squads to reinforce us constantly once they got wind of the assault, which I think is honestly the reason why I'm still alive to write this report. Without the constant flow of munitions coming in, we'd never have held out until dawn.

Well, I have to admit, that's half the reason. The other half of the reason, also the same reason for all the deaths, was because we ran short of firebombs just slightly before dawn. I forgot who suggested the idea---maybe he's already dead and buried---but someone suggested we force a retreat by taking out the leader. Then the horde would return to their unruly, relatively tamer mode, and we'd be able to mop them up. Since the assault still showed no sign of letting up and we'd be overran eventually if we did nothing, the bare minimum number of dwarves stayed on the way to man the catapults and ballistae. The rest of us suited up for close quarters.

God, never again. My clothes continue to smell like blood no matter how many times I wash them.

I'll say this much. The Pied Piper of f***ing Hamelin couldn't attract so many snakes with the number of rats he baited with his music. The snakes were pressing against the gates so tightly that they were actually piling higher and higher, to the point where we had to use a battering ram to open the gate from inside. Then we charged right into the horde and made for the commanding-fucking-whatever-it-was, and obviously the snakes didn't make it easy for us. Swinging the bat was the only thing I could think of at that moment.

After that, things just sort of became a blur. I remember saving the life of some dwarf only to see his head explode a few moments later, and other bits and pieces, but we somehow managed to blow that commander f***** to pieces. Then we had to crush the remainder of the horde, mop up the big ones, carry the dead to be buried and the snakes to be burned, and various other things. I spotted quite a few familiar faces among the caskets as well.

They also told me that I could go back and rest since I technically already did an entire shift, and they would just get someone to fill in for me, so I did just that. Probably gonna just grab some breakfast and then knock myself out until lunch, then write out the report.

Signing off for now.'

- Vicious, G. G.
"Those are indeed quite worrying developments... The dwarves of Gelderholm are certainly in a horrible situation...

"I wish we could do more... Please keep trying your best, miss Vicious.

"May the gods give you the strength to persevere even when faced against horrible odds."

After spending 50 coins at the Shopping District, Vesper left the area on a happy note. He wanted to tour the city before doing anything else, so Vesper wondered around Scribel City. Just as he was about to exit a book store, Vesper bumped into someone and both person fell to the ground.

Vesper clicked his tongue in annoyance and looked up. The person who bumped into looked at him in apology after he saw Vesper's gaze. "Sorrry," the person, a young boy his age said. "Are you alright?"

"Just a fall," Vesper replied. "No harm. You are..?"

"I'm Hanu, an adventurer," Hanu said. "I'm new around here."

"You are? I'm new, too." Vesper said, getting up." "Where did you come from."

"Somewhere southeast," Hanu answered. "At the Eastern Continents."

"Really? Me, too!"

"That's great! I actually met someone like me," Hanu said. "Let's keep in touch? You're the first Easterner I met since coming here."

"Of course!."

Vesper said good bye to Hanu and begin to walk back to the Adventure Guild. Yet, he stopped midway and remembered a huge probably. It's late noon, Vesper still haven't gotten his daily necessaries but instead spend 50 coins on food and want items. Not to mention he still needs a bath after days of travel.

Do they have peach blossom petals here for baths? Vesper, when he was back at home had always added peach blossom petals to his bath because he wants to have it's smell on himself. It has become a habit now after years of doing so. He took out the map he's gotten from the guild building and scan the paper. After finding the bath house's location, he fold it up and put it back to his sleeve pocket.

But first Vesper headed towards the Shopping District once again. He looked around for a long time, trying to find a place that sold soap bars and maybe see if they sell peach blossom scented ones. Finally, Vesper couldn't take it anymore and asked a town person where they sold self cleaning equipment. The person pointed him the way.

When Vesper found the shop, he hurried in with a sigh of relief that his little journey finally ended. He asked a staff to direct him to find a set of toothbrush, cup, and toothpaste. When Vesper got them, he continue on to but get the soap bar. Unfortunately, they don't sell pech blossom scented ones so Vesper went with the one that scented peach.

In total, all that cost him a total of 5 coins. When he finished his purchase, Vesper headed towards the bath house with the items his bought in his daily necessaries spatial ring.
"You found a... Toothbrush and toothpaste? I have to wonder what are those items, I have never seen them in any store... Be careful to not get scammed, mister Vesper, maybe there is someone putting those weird names out just to trick people into believing they're fancy items.

"Also... That all only costed 5 coins? Including the scented soap? I have never even seen scented soap... Though I never bought it either because 15G is a bit too much for me to spend in Soap when I can wash myself with water just fine... I'm very worried about the quality of those items, mister Vesper, please be careful with them.

"Nonetheless, you at least seems to have been finding yourself, regardless of how... Worrisome the place you found is.

"May the gods help you find trustworthy people."

Also, this is a generic medi-fantasy setting... Expecting people to sell toothpaste and toothbrush is a bit too farfetched.
Not to mention Soap is listed as 15G in the Market Thread.
Well, that's that I guess, I hope you're having fun at least~

[Iris POV]

Hungry..... warm..... soft.....

Person..... food?...... wet..... good.....

Person.... warm.... weird....

Warm.....

Food?... hard..... good....

Warm...... tired.....

[Reival POV]

I couldn't stand seeing her bones be seen from the outside anymore so I had to feed her something soft since she might be too weak to chew through hard foods. Luckily the local tavern serves that brownish soup so I got that for her, it may not be the best taste but it's a start.

...

........

..................

I've been taking care of her for a few days. Since she's well fed now, I can clearly see color returning to her body and the bones can barely be seen. She's able to eat my solid rations now but still weak on really tough and chewy foods. Still, she still stares like a dead person but that's ok since progress is progress.

Sigh.... she's gonna cause a dent in my satchel.

Greetings to you Guild

Procuration of food has been going smoothly due to the purchase of goods with my gold. As for my companion, she is as well being fed well as I have taking care of our sustenance needs.

Spent a day sorting through the Registration forms and separated them between the levels that they were on.
There are 12 adventurers of unknown level, 52 level 1 adventurers, 7 level 2 adventurers, 1 level 3 adventurer, 1 level 5 adventurer 1 level 6 adventurer and 1 level 8 adventurer.
"I'm not sure if this job was truly needed, but I thank you for your hard work, miss Aieo.

"That said, I'll have to put a penalty on your rewards as you weren't able to finish the job and left some adventurers listed as unknown. Also, your reported wasn't easily organized, which made it hard to parse through.

"May your emperor help you improve your organization abilities."

Also, we have a decent amount of level 4s I believe! Nene is one of them, for one! xD

OOC: Remember to tag your report as appraised in some way.
Also, this is a generic medi-fantasy setting... Expecting people to sell toothpaste and toothbrush is a bit too farfetched.
Not to mention Soap is listed as 15G in the Market Thread.
Well, that's that I guess, I hope you're having fun at least~
oh oops i''ll fix my report and the price i just listed something random

Quest Report - verified

Getting another signed note from a very tired receptionist, Liana hurried over to the kitchens again - still trying to avoid being seen by Hejlikka.
Cooking Rations
  • Sponsor: Adventurer's Guild
  • Location: Scribel City
  • Required Level: 1
Objectives:
  • Visit the guild kitchens.
  • Cook 40 satisfactory rations.
The guild stockpiles on rations in case of emergency.
Rations are foods that are easily preserved and can store for a long time.
The Adventurer's Guild provides the ingredients, and there is an easy recipe to follow.
One ration is one day's worth of food.
Rewards:
  • Points: 40 EXP
  • Money: 10 G
  • Other: 5 rations
  • After completing quest 3 times:
    • Permission to use guild kitchens
Entering the kitchen, it seemed a lot quieter than the early evening had been.

"Why are you back?"

"I wasn't feeling tired so thought to use my energy to help here." Liana replied while smiling with a gentleness that reached her gold eyes.

"I see. So why aren't your working?!" He shouted.

"Because I wanted to greet you before going, sir." She responded while giggling. "I'll see you when I've finished, then!" She hurried towards the ingredients while waving back at the gruff chef.

"Hmph!"

Gathering up the ingredients, she walked to one of the many free work stations and began her food prep. This time she'd decided to make use of the abundance of vegetables available and make pots of vegetable pate. She made sure to also prepare some chicken and liver pate, along with pork and liver pate for those that might want some protein in their ration.

A few hours later, Liana's cooking process had slowed after dawn passed but it didn't hinder her too much. Taking the first batch out of the cooling area, she called over the chef to get his opinion on it.

"Hmm, it tastes okay but how long will it keep? It looks quite wet..."

"The pate will let it last for a few weeks if stored in a cool place, and a few months if frozen." She smiled proudly as she answered.

"I see. Then I think it should be suitable as a ration."

"That's good to hear!" Liana's smile became brighter as she rushed to her work station to finish the last batch.

Just before noon, Liana very tiredly presented 120 small pots of pate to the chef; 40 vegetable pate pots, 40 chicken and liver pate pots, and 40 pork and liver pate pots. Looking nervously at the scrutinising chef, Liana worried that she'd maybe not made the portion sizes big enough - her dull gold eyes glancing at the rations and the chef.

"...It's acceptable! Now get out of my kitchen!"

"Yes, sir!" Liana responded while smiling brightly.
Writing her report and handing it in to the receptionist for evaluation, noon approached and Liana's body fell limp as her eyes closed and her face slammed hard into the desk before she collapsed onto the floor - dead to the world as she deeply slept in front of the desk.

Greetings to you Guild

I have taken shelter in the local tavern along with my companion. We shall make do in the payment with our jobs to come. At the current time I am paying for our daily contributions to the local tavern. I shall imbue my companion with enough common knowledge that she shall able to perform enough of a satisfactory assessment.

At service to you, Lancer Reival and Lady Iris

OOC: No need to read the story(unless you're curious) It's just foundation on how Iris will interact on future quests.
[Reival POV]

With all the "jobs" done and my satchel slowly getting lighter, it was time to address the next main problem. How is she gonna work with that listless mood and doing nothing? I guess it's time to start teaching her the basics.

In my room in the tavern Iris and I stare at each other, while I'm thinking on what to teach and where to start, she is still staring with those deadpan eyes. Sigh... might as well start on her speech.

"Iris, state your errr..... I mean... Try greeting me."

Crap, I almost forgot informal speech doesn't on her.

".............I......"

There! I definitely heard a voice! Come on, just a little push.

"...................."

"...................."

..

......

.............

After waiting for what seems a long time, she didn't speak again but I tried and tried then, I fell on my knees in despair as she didn't utter a sound. Ahhh.... this might be hopeless. I sat on the bed and grimaced on how else I'm going to teach her.

While I was racking my brain on what else to do, Iris approached me.

".....I..... name no..... I... Iris....... owner give.... meet.... good....."

I'm shocked. The sentence is broken and I couldn't understand what she's saying, but I'm shocked that she actually said something. Ahhhh.... hope is here!. Ok this is definitely a good thing.

..

.......

.............

It took some time to understand what she's saying but I manage to get the gist of it. Another couple of days to teach her some common words and manner, she's...... still definitely lacking but it's manageable. It's definitely a good start considering her VERY lack of words.

"Ok Iris, try to greet me again."

"I.... Iris.... meet good..... Reival owner."

Yep, still broken but it's definitely good enough for anyone to get the idea of what she's saying. However, why does she keep saying owner after my name? I can never understand why she always say that, well I'll figure it out when she can explain it more clearly. Needless to say this is definitely a good result..... for now.

As celebration, we both ate some of the salmun nearby.

[Iris POV]

Person..... weird.... warm.... say?.....

Name?..... I.... no name....... owner.... Iris.....

...

........

................

Owner.... sad..... cold.....

Scared..... cold..... hurts.....

Hurts.....

Hurts.....

Hurts.....

...

..... No.....

I..... Iris.... owner... give.....

Me and Gobo awaken and start our new journey in this unexplored world today. We start out with a hearty prepared breakfast and set our sights towards the Adventurer's Guild. Upon arrival we noticed how empty the Guild was from yesterday, so I started asking around and learned that the Guild post's its new request all on the bulletin board bright and early in the morning. So most of the good and best rewarding our mostly taken by the adventurers and the less wanted by the one's that get to the Guild "Late". I was panicked by this and started searching for a request on the bulletin board immediately. However, to my expectations, I couldn't find anything near or close my Guild Level

Me an Gobo walked to a nearby table, to think about what we were going to do now. As we were sitting putting are minds together on what were to do, a lady Guild Receptionist saw our slumped stature and wanted to see what was wrong. We told her our problems and she gave a small chuckle. She explained to us that most Quest of our Level are given out from the Guild directly. From doing housework and office work, to doing a night shift of the guards. Me and Gobo thanked the lady and she helped us pick out a quest among from the Guild. The on that peeked my interest were "Healing Herbs".

"Ah this one Gobo!". I ask the Guild Receptionist about "Healing Herbs" and she explained that the herbs are used for healing potions, conjuction with slime cores. She also explained in almost comically serious voice on how to only pick twin flowers not the tri-flower, for those tri-flowered were poisonous. She told me that everyday a new adventurer like myself would get poisoned and rushed to the local alchemist to get a dosage of antidote. Me and Gobo thanked her for helping us and also asked for about 10 small bags we could use for the quest. She wondered why I wanted 10 bags since the request only wanted 5. I explained that, I too the BigGreen, am an alchemist and would like to experiment with these herbs as well. She kindly accepted my request and gave us 10 bags, in return I gave 5 gold.

We head out to the local market before we set out collecting herbs. Still the local people still look at us , the goblin and potted plant duo, confusedly. Hopefully in time we can get some recognition in the town to stop these kind of looks. Well we stopped by Cecila's Discount Grocery and picked up 3 loafs of bread and 1 pound of cheese for Gobo, costing a total of 8g. With these supplies now, all I needed was a good shovel to start collecting herbs. So me and Gobo set out for Genial General's General. Along the way we also saw a lot of peddlers along the way, selling food to homemade vials of slimes and such. May be one day I should start peddling my potions. We get to Genial General's General and I saw the shovel...and I also saw the price.

"Hmmmmm... 30 gold coins for a shovel". One of the store's staff noticed me looking at the shovels and decided to help me. I asked if I could just borrow the shovel for the day for 5g. He told me he couldn't make this decision and led me towards the owner for more help. The staff talked to the owner and and the owner looked at me. "Well I've never seen this kind of duo before, a goblin and a potted plant!". He told us his name Genial, we told him our situation about our quest from the guild to pick herbs and how I needed to shovel to do this. Genial in return thought for second and asked if it was the request for twin flowers, I said yes. "Yes, great!" he said. He explained to use that a new type of plant was appearing not to far where I would be going. Along the riverbed of town, near the so called Manastone, and he wanted me to pick one. In return I would get a new shovel and a favor from Genial himself, as he pronounced. I obviously accepted his condition and he handed Gobo a new shovel. Everything we needed was complete and we set out towards our first quest.

As we headed towards the city gate, a guard explained to us that a new goblin camp appeared and it seems even stronger then the last one they've had. We take note of this and I make sure Gobo is on alert at all times. Hopefully if we do encounter a goblin, may be Gobo can help us talk our way out, or at least escape. We finally get to the spot where twin flowers are located at. Gobo is quite tired, so I suggest he take a little break while I start sensing and looking for herbs with my Light magic. After a while I locate about 4 small bags of twin flowers and I tell Gobo to start digging out the herbs carefully, while I start cleaning and pruning the herbs. No one likes a dirty herb right? Well in time we collect 10 bags full of twin-flowers and I tell Gobo before we start looking for the new flower near the riverbed. That we should take our lunch break and rest for a bit. Gobo makes a little cheese sandwhich, and I use light to pick up a small handfull of water from the river. A good bit after our lunch end, we start looking for this new herb.

Well... this was quite and herb, something I sure have never seen. It was a floating and faintly shining plant along the river bed, just about head height of Gobo. I tell Gobo to try and collect one of the herbs, but when he touches the plant, Gobo started to float. I quickly use Light and grab towards a nearby tree and another to hold onto Gobo. Luckily our little predicament last only about 20 seconds, but the herb, that Gobo touched, unfortunately floats up into the air dissapearing from our sights. Gobo is quite afraid of touching the new herb again, so I had to think of a another way to collect the herb. It was little afternoon and I still haven't thought of anything yet. Gobo was drawing circles in the dirt and I sat on a nearby stone. "Circle... circle... YES a circle, goodjob Gobo". I form a Light bubble around the herb and it seems my and Gobo's idea was correct. It seems these herb don't react with mana as they do with physical objects. I have enough Light magic strength to carry 2 herbs with us, but we eventually set out back towards town.

"Yes...yessss Finally back to town". These herbs are just to heavy for me right now. Just a little bit more and we are done. I tell Gobo to go to Genial to drop off one of the herbs. When we get to Genial's store, I see him staring at the new herb I held with my Light and he was quite excited I was able to get one these. Before I could warn him about the floating, he touches one of the herbs. "Haha, so this is why they couldn't collect these". Some staff members eventually help and keep Genial grounded until the effects wear-off. Genial thanks me for the new type of herb and gives me a little card with his face on it saying "Favor from Genial, "THE GENIAL". "Thank you?" I write out, Gobo scratches his head confusedly. Well me and Gobo say our goodbye's and we start to walk towards the Adventurers Guild. As we enter we decided to see if we could find the same Guild Receptionist from last time, luckily we could. We turn in our 5 small bags of twin-flowers and also explain to her about the new herb we found while traveling the river bed. She said she had to talk with her superior and see what to do. Eventually she comes back with the Guilds Alchemist and the first thing Alchemist looks at is me."Well this must be the famous duo, of a Goblin and a Plant". He tells me to show him the herb and before another incident happens, I tell him about the floating properties of the herb. He calmly covers his hand with mana and picks up the herb successfully. The receptionist and alchemist goes into the backroom of the guild with herb, while me and Gobo wait. Eventually the receptionist comes back and tells us good news about how we were able to find a new herb for the guild. She also explained to me that I could name the new herb since I was the first one to discover it. " Big Greens First Herb" I said. The receptionist and Gobo gave me a weird look. "Ok,ok just name it Float Fern". The receptionist thanks me again for the contribution and we both eventually go back to the Guild Tavern.

We say our hello's to Pierre and pay our 10g for another day of room and board. I let Gobo eat his meal and I drink my water. We've finally done are first fulfilling quest and I'm quite proud of it. Gobo takes me to our room and places me on the window stand. Gobo on the other-hand crashes onto his pillow, falling asleep almost instantly. "Goodjob today Gobo" and I pull covers over my little Goblin. Are first real day in a new world.

-5g >> 10 small herb bags
-8g >> 3 loafs of bread and 1lb of cheese
-10g >> 1 day of Room and board
+5 small herb bags
+5 small herb bags filled with Twin Flowers
+1 Shovel
+ Favor card *Genial*

X Big Green & GOBO

TLDR: Me and Gobo go to the adventurers guild to look for quests. We eventually decided on Herb collecting and we went to go buy equipment for the day. Genial gave us a request in return we could get a shovel, we took it. We eventually collected our herbs and also collected Genial's request. We got back to town and turned in both our quests. Got back to the Tavern for a good rest with Gobo, looking forward to the next day.

I went to the guild person to do the normal office work but the worker said that I should do the Customer service department instead since it was more challenging than organizing files. I agreed and went to the counter and the first person came up right away.

"Hi I'd like to file a complain, The guild's dumb! why hasin't anybody took my request yet!" It was farmer Joe, It had been a day or so that he put the request up yet nothing had happened "Maybe--?" "Increase the reward? I'll think of it." The man frowned and walked away before I could say anything else Ah, Does this count as resolving a complaint?

Three more customers came with mild complaints that was easily handled by me, But a woman came up to me
"One of your receptionists is a massive slut and keeps on trying to entice multiple people's boyfriends! You need to fire her since she is really getting on our nerves, and with the evil in her heart I won't put it past her to try something against us!" I was about to respond formally but a group of ladies fanned out behind her, various female adventurers of different types "We demand her resignation!"

eeeeehp?! "I'll have to put in a formal complaint to the guild, That's all I can do for now...." The group of women only seemed half-satisfied by that and left to find any wrong doing that whore of a receptionist must have done, something so vile must be corrupt they thought.
----

"It seems that there's a complaint about a receptionist named Imelda Carson" I handed the formal complaint file to the receptionist receiving my quest report

It seems like there are those that do not appreciate the work the guild does for them - or simply are greedy or wasteful with their money and thus don't want to pay their taxes. My job simply is to remind them of their duty to the city and guild. Not to force them to pay up should they still refuse.

So I report for duty in the guild's office. It seems like my face is slowly getting known there, as I am welcomed with relief. They quickly hand me a list of 5 individuals with overdue taxes and their addresses to collect money from as well as official notices as proof of my identity that also act as warning notices which allow for further actions, should they still refuse to pay. I take and memorize the list and stash the notices in a bag, and head out.

The first person on the list lives in a rather rich area of the city, with large and luxurious buildings all around. I do want to live this luxuriously as well, but not paying those that protect you and your wealth isn't something I can approve of. After brushing some imaginative dust off my clothes and adjusting my glasses I step to the door and rap my knuckles against it.

The one to open the door is a butler. He suspiciously eyes me before rudely questioning me: "Who are you and what are you doing here?"

"I am Exal, an adventurer tasked with collecting this house's overdue taxes," I start as I pull out and show an official notice before continuing: "If you do not pay up, I will be forced to note your intentional refusal to pay the taxes which will lead to further actions."

The butler simply scoffs before accusing the guild of being wrong: "We have already paid our taxes. This has to be a mistake."

"No, sir, I am certain that you have not yet paid the taxes."

"Baseless accusations!"

"According to paragraph 388 in the second book of law in Scribel, the one to offer proof that taxes have been paid is the taxpayer, not the collector or adventurer's guild. So please, pay up or be prepared for further actions."

I can almost hear the butler curse before he stomps off and, after 7 minutes and 22 seconds, returns with the money. "There you are, now get lost."

"Thank you for paying and not making this difficult for both of us."

Before I finish the sentence, he shuts the door. I suppose they really like their money - not that I disagree with that, but I wouldn't be so foolish to make myself a legally justified target. Onwards to the next individual.

As I reach the general area of the person that has yet to pay the taxes, I already know the reason. The houses are dilapidated and dirty - this obviously is an area filled with the poor. It might be that they simply don't have the money. Which is slightly problematic, but... not really of my concern.

Once again, I rap my knuckle against the door. A thin woman opens it, and I can see the confusion and fear in her eyes. She timidly asks: "What do you want?"

"I am Exal, an adventurer tasked with collecting this house's overdue taxes," I start again while pulling out and showing an official notice before continuing: "If you do not pay up, I will be forced to note your intentional refusal to pay the taxes which will lead to further actions."

The woman breaks into tears. "We don't have enough money!"

"The tax is based on your income. You should have enough money."

"My man and child are sick, we don't even have enough money for the medicine! And now I am supposed to pay taxes!?"

I ignore her tears and continue: "Yes. If you do not have the money yet, you could have applied for an extension of the payment deadline for a few weeks. The amount of taxes you would have had to pay for last year would be the same, but you would have had more time to get the money. But you failed to do that, so you have to pay the taxes today. Otherwise, your belongings are going to be seized as a means to pay off your taxes."

The women falls down on her knees and keeps bawling. I am slowly getting annoyed. And if she doesn't pay up, it might affect my quota.

"Listen. I don't care where you get the money from, but the tax is due today. I will return in the evening. If you don't have the money by then, your property will be seized within the week."

With that said I leave and continue to the third individual. This one turns out to simply have forgotten to pay the taxes and immediately pays once I state my purpose. The fourth individual turns out to be quite similar to the first one, refusing to pay until I bring up the required proof and the fifth is once again similar to the third, and I immediately receive the taxes.

Then I return to the second individual. As I enter the street I am greeted by hate-filled glares from the locals and the woman is already waiting for me at the door. Wordlessly, she tosses a pouch filled with money onto the ground before me. How uncalled for. I bend down to pick it up, and spot a sickly looking child in the house, glaring at me even more intense than the other locals. Chances that he will try to take revenge in the future are calculated to be rather high. I will have to watch my back.

Having finally collected the taxes from all individuals I leave the street, ignoring the hateful glares of the locals as I continue onwards to the guild and hand in my report.
