IntroductionAdventurer's Guild - Library
+ + +
Oh hello~ How did you find your way into the storage room? Please don't mind the boxes of documents.
This is the temporary Guild Library, which otherwise serves as a world-building thread. Here, we parse through quest reports submitted by adventurers for noteworthy information. We summarize our research into memos, which are brief paragraphs on a topic.
The world of Tonia is brand new and largely unexplored. There are many undiscovered and unnamed monsters, locations, plants, and more! The Guild is highly interested in collecting information about this universe.
Beware of the information you read — much of it is unverified and could be inaccurate!
Rules
A. Additive World-Building Rule
- Please only create content that adds to the world of Tonia.
- Please avoid restrictive content that prevents other players from adding more to the world.
- Good examples:
- "Fulyiasa is a goddess who lives atop Mount Kumbaya."
- "East of the City of Scribel, there is a town called Bethleham."
- "Some goblins have green hair and red eyes."
- "Silka is a talented alchemist in the City of Scribel."
- "Some magicians rely on ley lines to power their magic."
- Bad examples:
- "Zoon is the only god in the world of Tonia."
- "Kazaduum is the closest village 1 km east of Scribel."
- "All goblins have green hair and red eyes."
- "Barry is the best woodcutter in the City of Scribel."
- "Magic in the World of Tonia requires mana that is summoned from ley lines."
- Good examples:
B. Two References Rule
- Please do not make up information without a source.
- All new memos require sources from at least two unique players.
- At least one source must come from a Quest Report.
- Try your best to synthesize consensus information from multiple quest reports from different authors.
- Make sure to quote your sources in your memo.
C. Wikipedia Rule
- Avoid adding personal NPCs, backstories, and content to the Library.
- Try to imagine if there might be a "Wikipedia" article on a subject before adding a memo to the Library.
- An NPC article on the King of Poland would likely exist on Wikipedia.
- An NPC article on Average Joe's dog who lives next door probably would not exist on Wikipedia.
D. Uncertainty Rule
- Please write in a style that leaves a possibility for information to be wrong.
- Please avoid absolutes and omniscient knowledge.
- It is perfectly okay to say information is unknown or uncertain.
- For conflicting information, attempt to synthesize both perspectives. Examples:
- "It is disputed whether the Scribel City Sewers are flammable. Some adventurers claim the sewers are flammable, but others have used fire magic in the sewers without any issue."
- "It is unclear what color Carn Flowers are. Some adventurers report seeing blue flowers, while others have reported yellow flowers."
Memo Entry Format
Memo Title: The title for the memo
Memo Category: monsters, geography, etc. (see the website for recommended categories)
Content: Write here!
References: Quote your sources
Updating and Modifying Content
- Only one source is required to update an existing Library memo.
- Locate an old entry on a topic and copy it (including the references).
- Make a new post with any additions and new references.
- In order to override content, your new information should have more references than the old content.
Library Salary
- The guild is always eager to receive more memos, and there is a small reward for writing a memo.
- For each memo you write, you can collect:
- EXP: 25
- Money: 10G
