  • If I'm being honest for a moment, the stuff I've been putting on the internet is either stuff I wrote in high school or first drafts I didn't think about.

It's possible to be picked up after internet publishing. Hurts your chances though. I don't know. Gonna have my brother read through my stuff this week and give his two cents.

Best to keep an offline side project. Something to fall back on if an agent takes notice of your online work. In that way, you have a product to negotiate with in order to keep posting online and publishing offline.

Or maybe I'm dreaming of the stars when we're still buried 6 feet deep.
I've officially given my meanest review on the first chapter feedback thread. . . if the work was legitimate.

I swear they were screwing with me.

Yeah I found the galaxy mag. Couldn't read it though and didn't want to spend $15 for a copy. And I was aware of the son's comments. I was looking for a more outside interpretation of the work. Altough you bringing this up does give me an idea.

I lied. Finished editing and realized there was another section I wanted to add with some research. Luckily I've got nothing to do at work this week.
hey i've been toying with this soft logic for a day or what, i just watched first season of Better Call Saul and having wacthed yer locke vid before i started i was thinking about characters that are sly wordsmiths instead of traditional damage soaks. So yeah, idk if you've watched BCS?

yeah, the archetype... ttrpg fantasy bard sort of thing. stories that don't necessarily need blood flowing to make them suspenseful and interesting. two rival philosophers each vie for the ear of the empress, so she sends them forth into her realm to learn as much of the land and people that they can, then report back. Playing Skyrim as a chef. that sorta thing... hm i can play with this.

Makes me think of Cugel the Clever from Vance's Dying Earth, sure he'll draw a blade but it's his bastard cunning that carries him into and out of trouble most of the time.

It's absolutely the kind of character and story I love. It's what I'm writing right now.

Few years ago I started journaling my opinions on everything I watched and read. I now have 200 pages on a Word document covering: Movies, TV, Fiction, Non-Fiction.

i think i like slow-build plots and a deviation from the traditional three-act setup. not in terms of conflict necessary, i mean blood can flow from day 1, mothers can banish sons, kings can eat troubadours, but in terms of development, especially if story is told from multiple pov's. basically a slow-burn at the start where the form of events to come are obfuscated enough to keep the reader in excited suspense.
Not done yet, but the Hyperion sequel is shaping up to be one of the most over the top, insane, unpredictable works ever written.

If the first book wasn't a nuanced character study, there would be no way to even see it as legitimate.
I was going to release another video today, but I woke up and realized that would be more annoying than impresive. So wednesday or something.

Just having a huge back log of stuff to watch if you're following someone. A youtuber I liked released a lot of stuff like I was planning to this weekend and my first thought was: maybe space that out.
