I'll give you a little run down, because I actually work in the service industry.
Tips are a nice thing to have when living in this industry, however I believe people are way too entitled about the tipping and you should have some gratitude for those that give you a nice couple extra dollars for your service.
Because the despite some of the costumers being assholes I am aware they aren't my sugar momma and I am not entitled to their money, tips are for when the costumer believes you have done an outstanding performance, done something extra to go out of your way for them, or if they are being generous.
I don't expect to be tipped for providing the basic service that I am contractually paid to do, the fact I am paid barely enough to live paycheck to paycheck isn't my costumers fault, but the fault of my company.
And feel that idea needs to be spread around, people are too entitled with tips because to be frank, fuck your 15% tip I and so many other people can't afford it.
